Wow !!! - Judge Chutkan faces call to seize Trump's passport after threat to flee to Venezuela

George Washington Law Professor Randall Eliason, a former federal prosecutor, called on U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan to seize Donald Trump's passport after he suggested that he might flee to Venezuela.

In a conversation with Elon Musk on Monday, Trump hinted that he would move to Venezuela if he lost the 2024 presidential election.

"If something happens with this election, which would be a horror show, we'll meet the next time in Venezuela," the former president told Musk.

Eliason noted Tuesday that Chutkan had not required Trump to surrender his passport when he was first arraigned.

Aug 2024

Argentina has a mutual extradition treaty with the U.S. - BUT they're currently governed by an utterly lawless Trumpian president.

Milei basically rules by decree - with the one legislation he did manage to get passed (by way of bribing a couple of key senators), being one giving him broad decree powers for the rest of his term (to 2027).

So it's likely that if Cheeto fled to Argentina, that Chucky doll Milei would protect him.

In fact - I could almost guarantee you Milei would make a sport of defying "that thieving, black communist," if President Harris pressured him to hand the fat bastard over.

I might add that Trump even hinted at Argentina as an option, when he complimented Milei out of the blue in last night's malarkey session with Muskrat.

And that all of Venezuela will live in the US. It's nothing but a ploy to his base. He said that during the convention too. He said if the Democrats win, they will hold the next RNC in Venezuela.

It doesn't make sense, especially the way I'm writing it. He's just saying that it would be better to live in Venezuela if Democrats win because the US will now consist of Venezuelans and Venezuela will be vacant...

It's just a rallying cry to his base. It's like the yahoos who file bills getting Texas to cede. Then everyone takes it seriously, but it's nothing but BS.

He's probably excited that Democrats are gleeful about this. He has no plans to go.

One more thing, there is still the hope that Maduro will leave Venezuela, my understanding is that there are negotiations going on at this time, and I don't think the new president would welcome trump.

Now, if Putin accepted him but immediately sent him to Siberia? That would be OK.

Putin's only use for that festering boil is the power of the presidency. Without that, he will have absolutely no use for Trump. I'm not sure Putin would tell Trump that now, because he'd want to keep his options open until November. But once Kamala is officially declared the winner of the 2024 election, I think Russia will slam the door on Trump in a heartbeat. So will a lot of other countries; Trump would be a pain in the ass that few would welcome. Has Venezuela indicated to Trump that he'd be welcome there? Who knows. Stranger things have happened.

Trump owns an airliner that can fly 4500 miles on one tank of gas, and Venezuela has a corrupt dictator who likes him. He could easily fly down there and have Venezuelan citizenship bestowed on himself by said dictator. Not having a passport isn't going to affect him.

Only slapping his happy ass in a cell until his trials are over is going to stop him from fleeing the country - and if he's found guilty in the DC or Georgia trials the judge needs to remand him into custody before sentencing as he is a major flight risk.

Otherwise we wind up with a replay of Winston Shrout. Winston Shrout is a sovereign citizen who was a big name in the tax protester ecosystem. After a judge sentenced him to ten years in federal prison for passing over 300 fictitious "international bills of exchange" that were supposedly worth $100 trillion and was given time before reporting to get his affairs in order, he...just disappeared thanks to his legion of supporters. It took a couple years for the government to get him back. Trump has way more supporters than Winston Shrout did and they're more violent.

judges could do it, but I think that the request has to come from the prosecutors. Without that, there is nothing to answer.

Venezuela had been making plans to overtake Guyana, I think, because Guyana found an immense oil field worth really big bucks. That country is defenseless, but we sent a warship down there to warn Venezuela off. Haven't heard anything else. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the attraction.

Not too many people would hasten to haul tRump back home. But, if they did, I don't think he would be placed in an easy to last country club type prison. I think as long as the prosecutions go on, they would look for him, but if there is a mechanism to convict in absentia, then after that happens, we would stop. He'll just die in a third world with poor health care.

He could have been so different, but he's mental.

TFG is running for POTUS to stay out of prison

TFG last night discussed fleeing to Venezuela if he losses

https://www.alternet.org/trump-musk-venezuela/

Legal experts jumped on Trump suggesting a trip to Venezuela, especially given his status as a convicted criminal awaiting sentencing.

“Trump is a convicted felon to be sentenced in a month and he’s talking about fleeing to a country that refuses US extradition requests,” observed MSNBC legal analyst Kristy Greenberg, a former SDNY Criminal Division Deputy Chief. “Anyone else would be in jail. Trump is showing yet again that he isn’t amenable to Probation’s supervision and must be sentenced to jail time.”

There are countries where TFG could flee which do not have an extradition treaty with the US

If TFG loses, TFG will do what he can to avoid jail.
