High Road? What Fucking High Road?

Everyone who cares about the Constitution and the United States of America should know and share the following:

President Trump gestures to Russia's ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Kislyak, as he speaks to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in the Oval Office on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. (Alexander Shcherbak/TASS/Getty Images)

“I just fired the head of the FBI. He was crazy, a real nut job," Trump said, according to The Times. "I faced great pressure because of Russia. That's taken off.” He added, "I'm not under investigation."

Joe Biden’s Hunter lesson: The political high road is a mirage

Trump has gone to war against the America we have known. Democrats must be prepared to use any weapon to fight back

By Lucian K. Truscott IV
Salon, December 3, 2024

How quickly we forget. On the morn of President Biden’s pardon of his son Hunter, there is nary a column inch about who Trump pardoned before he left office. All the pearl clutchers — elected Democrats and liberal political commentators alike – have been lamenting that Biden “lied” or “broke his promise” not to pardon his son. Meanwhile, Trump’s pardons of multiple figures who could incriminate him criminally or merely for political corruption are going unmentioned. So, let’s take a little trip down the Trump pardon memory hole:

Snip...

Trump pardoned the execrable Roger Stone, who was Trump’s cut-out to the Russian intelligence computer hackers who stole Hillary Clinton’s and Democratic Party emails and published them just before the 2016 election to undercut the Clinton campaign. Stone was another Trump crony convicted of lying under oath and obstructing a congressional investigation into Trump’s collusion with Russians during his 2016 campaign.

Snip...

Are we seeing a pattern here? You bet. Each of Trump’s pardons listed above was to benefit himself. During his time in the White House, Trump repeatedly waved the promise of pardons to keep his co-conspirators from cooperating with investigations he faced. Shutting up Manafort alone helped him in his first impeachment for attempting to blackmail Ukrainian President Zelenskyy into opening a fake investigation in Ukraine of Joe Biden and his son Hunter. This created a savage backlash against Hunter Biden that was carried out for years by James Comer and his House Oversight Committee, which held countless hearings into what Comer called the “Biden crime family.”

Shutting up Michael Flynn got Trump out of his connections to Sergey Kislyak, who Trump invited to a meeting in the Oval Office, along with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the day after he had fired FBI Director James Comey because Comey had opened an investigation into the Trump campaign’s Russia connections.

Let’s stop to consider what we’re talking about here. The first foreign official Trump invited into the Oval Office after becoming president was one Russian who had repeated meetings and phone calls with Trump campaign officials, and the Russian government official who, along with Vladimir Putin, controlled the Russian intelligence agents who were eventually indicted for hacking Democrats’ emails and interfering with the 2016 election.

Lucian K. Truscott IV is correct: The Oval Office is no place for V Putin or his agent, D Trump.

Then, of course, Trump shared it via his social media:

Trump tweeted: "Just had a very good meeting with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and representatives of Russia. Discussed many items including Trade, Iran, North Korea, INF Treaty, Nuclear Arms Control, and Election Meddling. Look forward to continuing our dialogue in the near future!"

He was pee-resident for four years and didn't do one damn thing for the nation, just for himself and his connected cronies-n-family. Traitor still has yet to work a day in his miserable life.

DEUTSCHE BANK, TRUMP, RUSSIA, SAUDI ARABIA: WHAT'S THE CONNECTION?

From WhoWhatWhy.org, a Deutsche primer:

Deutsche Bank: A Global Bank for Oligarchs — American and Russian, Part 1 (1/08/2018)
International banking colossus Deutsche Bank has a track record of deploying illegal financial trading, money laundering, and shady offshore tax shelters in the service of the global elite. Should anyone be surprised that Deutsche is on Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia investigation radar?

Deutsche Bank: A Global Bank for Oligarchs — American and Russian, Part 2 (1/15/2018)
What do President Donald Trump and a number of Russian oligarchs have in common? Answer: Deutsche Bank. We pick up where we left off by examining how Trump first became involved with the international colossus — a bank catering to clients who understood that sometimes the line between profit and illegality blurs.

Deutsche Bank: A Global Bank for Oligarchs — American and Russian, Part 3 (2/01/2018)
Not only is President Donald Trump personally tied up with Deutsche Bank to the tune of $300 million, but his son-in-law Jared Kushner has his own history with the global banking giant. Part 3 looks closely at these relationships, and asks just how far President Trump’s Justice Department will be willing to go in probing potential illegality on the part of Deutsche.

Deutsche Bank: Where the Dots of Russiagate Connect (1/24/2018)
Martin Sheil, a retired branch chief of the IRS Criminal Division, discusses his WhoWhatWhy series on Deutsche Bank and how nearly all the main figures involved in Russiagate also have ties to the financial institution.

House GOP Leads Russia Probe… Away From Deutsche Bank (2/27/2018)
House Republicans who are supposed to be investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election say there is no need to look at Deutsche Bank. Here is why they are wrong.

It does not seem like “Political Malpractice” when so many of our fellow Democrats now suggest Biden pardon Trump. Looking back makes it seem like the dragging of Lady Justice’s feet was intentional.

Trump’s nickname in the Kremlin is “America’s Gorbachev.” Assisted by America’s corporate news media, they’ve effectively weaponized propaganda for maximum impact on the fat, dumb and lazy that make up traitor dip’s base.

"When you can't subjugate people using the appeal of your own model, you have to undermine the allegiance of the citizens [of foreign countries] to their own system," Rudy Reichstadt explained. And the conspiracy scene, this machine for hating existing elites and democratic institutions, is a perfect channel.

What kept them at bay? Our revolutionary ideals of freedom and individual rights, our economic strengths, and our military might -- planetary powers made possible by our unity as a free and democratic People.

On January 20, we will have a pee-resident who wants to end the Constitution which ensures all the above. To that I say, NO FUCKING WAY!

Detail from The Sinclair Lewis Society:

Did Sinclair Lewis say, “When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross”?

This quote sounds like something Sinclair Lewis might have said or written, but we’ve never been able to find this exact quote. Here are passages from two novels Lewis wrote that are similar to the quote attributed to him.

From It Can’t Happen Here: “But he saw too that in America the struggle was befogged by the fact that the worst Fascists were they who disowned the word ‘Fascism’ and preached enslavement to Capitalism under the style of Constitutional and Traditional Native American Liberty.”

From Gideon Planish: “I just wish people wouldn’t quote Lincoln or the Bible, or hang out the flag or the cross, to cover up something that belongs more to the bank-book and the three golden balls.”

There was also a play by Sherman Yellen called Strangers in the late 1970s which had a similar quote, but no one, including one of Lewis’s biographers, Richard Lingeman, has ever been able to locate the original citation.

Other variants include one from James Waterman Wise, Jr. in the Christian Century (Feb.5, 1936) who noted that Hearst and Coughlin were the two chief exponents of fascism in America. If fascism comes, he added, it will not be identified with any “shirt” movement, nor with an “insignia,” but it will probably be “wrapped up in the American flag and heralded as a plea for liberty and preservation of the constitution” (245). Another version is from Halford E. Luccock, in Keeping Life Out of Confusion (1938): “When and if fascism comes to America it will not be labeled ‘made in Germany’; it will not be marked with a swastika; it will not even be called fascism; it will be called, of course, ‘Americanism.'” Harrison Evans Salisbury in The Many Americas Shall Be One (1971) remarked “Sinclair Lewis aptly predicted in It Can’t Happen Here that if fascism came to America it would come wrapped in the flag and whistling ‘The Star Spangled Banner'” (29).
