December 3, 2024 Trump Corruption, Trump Lies

The Hill reports:

President-elect Trump’s team outlined the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee benefits for donors over the Jan. 20 weekend, which include a reception with Cabinet picks, a Sunday service and the inaugural ball.

In a benefits outline obtained by The Hill, the team highlighted that committee members who give $1 million or raise $2 million receive six tickets to access exclusive inaugural events between Saturday, Jan. 18, and Monday, Jan. 20, the day of the swearing-in.

The schedule was released to donors Monday, and there is a Jan. 10 deadline to RSVP, according to the benefits outline. It includes five tiers of benefits and the cost of hotels in Washington are not included.

Read the full article. The lowest tier offers only two ball tickets for a $500,000 donation. You will recall that millions of dollars went unaccounted for after Trump’s first inauguration................

It was around 2005 or 2006. I was in DC, and my two daughters (then about 20 and 22) were with me. Two middle-aged guys--no idea of their political affiliation, but from their behavior, I suspect Republican--saw me with one daughter on each arm, and said, "hey, what are you doing with two of them? Let us have one!" I got the distinct impression they weren't quite joking--more like testing the water to see if they had a chance. It was in the K street area, since my younger daughter was interning for EMILY's List. Now, my daughters are nice-looking young women, but it was not the kind of compliment any of us were looking for.

Definitely the kind of "celebration" I find easy to skip.

I never knew they had to pay high dollar for the Inauguration Ball. Is this just a tRump thing or has it always been a pay to attend event?

One if the payments was to a friend of Melania who had just established the business a month before. I think it coordinated seating or some other rental item.

And to my surprise there were tons of reservations still available only a few days after it was announced. I ended up canceling them at the last minute so I wouldn't have to,pay a cancellation fee.
