(17,135 posts)people whose advice I take to heart. I know that some people are reluctant to leave Twitter, but Nance has set forth the reasons why that should be a priority. I thought it would be much harder than it actually was. There were times when I really missed some of the accounts--especially Ruth Ben-Ghiat and some of the pro-Ukrainian accounts and OSINT accounts, but it was almost anticlimactic and I experienced no withdrawal whatsoever.

(53,928 posts)1. Don't believe corporate media.
2. Get off corporate social media.
3. Open a Bluesky account.
4. Don't try to argue policy with MAGA. Keep it simple, i.e. "Trump is a dictator."
5. Meet at least once a week in person with like-minded friends to talk offline.
Seems there should be more to it. Did I miss anything?

I still think a spending boycott will work. It can be done from the safety of home. Protest with our consumer dollars. They can't take your picture, detain, arrest or shoot you if you're not in the streets. spending boycotts cost nothing and you get to save money.

(2,975 posts)...they are fun and I always am careful to be respectful of the one who left the estate. But I've never been willing, until now to purchase consumable products, such as food, cleaning supplies, or toiletries. But what do I have to lose now? I will buy everything I can use from these sources. Better than from traditional sources. Thank you to the ones who've gone before me for facilitating my protest to support democracy! Novel way to resist, but I am on it!
