Today, Kash Patel sent a letter to my counsel @MarkSZaidEsq - threatening legal action & demanding that I retract my comments on MSNBC about his unfitness to serve as FBI Director. This aligns with his threats against the media & political opponents, revealing how he might conduct himself if confirmed in the role. I stand by my statementsmy priority remains the safety & security of the American people. I am not the only one who has expressed concerns about him. So why me? And so it begins.

Man, if these guys would sue over this, they could have 20 law suits a day just watching MSNBC.
And triple that from Dems watching Fox.
I knew it would be bad, but it's always worse than we could imagine.

(1,854 posts)because it's just to hard to call out all of it, and the standard for winning is too high.
It reminds me of Elon getting upset at how he was portrayed by SNL.
These guys want to run the world with an iron fist, inflict fear and economic pain, but they are soooo upset when their feelings get hurt. They are little children playing with matches.

(53,928 posts)He did it because the guy criticized Elon's stupid idea of using a small submarine to rescue the boys.
The man, who was obviously not a public figure, sued Elon for defamation. Elon hired the best high powered lawyers and won, with the ridiculous argument that "pedo guy" was just a commonly used South African term and not meant to be taken literally as pedophile. Yes, justice can be bought.

I doubt they were d8scussing the weather.
Stefanik is up for Ambassador to the UN.
Patel for FBI.
McCarthy ousted as Speaker and resigned early.
I wonder what was discussed.
It seems somebody was not willing to bow down to Trump and paid the price

(155,064 posts)One of the lies being told by Patel is that he did not endanger a Seal Team. Here are some facts
Link to tweet
https://www.spytalk.co/p/how-kash-patel-bungled-a-seal-team
On October 30, 2020, President Trump signed off on a mission to have SEAL Team Six rescue Philip Walton, a 27-year-old American who gunmen had abducted from his farm in the West African nation of Niger, near the border with Nigeria. The kidnappers had hustled Walton across the border to Nigeria and were demanding a $1 million ransom.
In their book Only I Can Fix It, journalists Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker reported that the plan called for the SEALs to parachute into northern Nigeria and move three miles on foot to reach the compound where Walton was being held.
Secretary of Defense Mark Esper had signed off on the plan with one or two questions: Did we have permission to fly over Nigeria?
Patel, then the senior director for counterterrorism on the National Security Council, assured the Pentagon that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo got the airspace cleared.
A few hours later, the Pentagon learned that Patel was wrong: Nigeria had not given permission......
But the Pentagon was still furious at Patel. Tony Tata, the Pentagon official to whom Patel had given the green light, confronted Patel in a rage.
You couldve gotten these guys killed! Tata shouted at Patel, according to a report in The Atlantic. What the fuck were you thinking?
Patels response was: If nobody got hurt, who the fuck cares?
Is this the kind of person we want running the FBI? ###

(155,064 posts)This response by Troye's attorney made me laugh

In a legal letter on Friday, Mark Zaid sneered at demands Kash Patel made for Olivia Troye, a former counterterrorism aide to Mike Pence, to publicly retract defamatory statements of the MAGA loyalist. Zaid answered Patels lawyer Jesse Binnall, a veteran Trump attorney, by first noting that Troyes statements have been previously stated by a wide swath of the knowledgeable population.
He then offered Patels attorney a visual image in his letter to reiterate his stance.
But to answer your specific question as to Ms. Troyes intensions as to a retraction, I think Monty Python expresses it best, Zaid wrote above a photo of a mustached character from the Monty Python film known as the French Taunter.
My counsel @markzaidesq.bsky.socials response to #KashPatel & his threat to sue me for being critical of him on media & stating he is unfit to serve as FBI Director, Troye wrote on social media. Monty Python enters the chat.
And Zaid wasnt done. He also launched a social media blitz where he dug into his unwavering defense of his client and referred to Patel as thin-skinned.
