In an interview with Megyn Kelly on her SiriusXM show, Hegseth ‒ a former Fox News host and Army veteran ‒ referenced "general order number 1," which prohibits military personnel from consuming alcohol during deployment.

"That's how I view this role as Secretary of Defense is, I'm not going to have a drink, at all. And it's not hard for me because it's not a problem for me," Hegseth said.

Hegseth added that he needs to make sure senators, U.S. troops, Trump and others know "when you call me 24/7, you're getting fully dialed-in Pete, just like you always did in Iraq and Afghanistan."

"So this is the biggest deployment of my life, and there won't be a drop of alcohol on my lips while I'm doing it," he said.

and frequently gets so drunk he has to be carried home. What alcoholic hasn't uttered those words, making a promise that rarely lasts more than a few days? If he gets as far as an actual confirmation hearing he'll probably be drunk for it.

do not successfully abstain at the drop of a hat while also denying that they are problem drinkers -- recognizing that there exists a problem to deal with is part of successfully dealing with the problem. And regularly showing up to work with alcohol on your breath, as has been widely reported of his time at FUX, is plainly a sign of a problem.

Responsible drinkers don't make announcements about their drinking, nor do they eschew drinking altogether.

1) The idea that he thinks he would need to totally abstain in order to perform the job indicates that he has a problem with alcohol and knows it.

2) The idea that he would totally abstain from alcohol even after he got confirmed is total bullshit, and I don't believe it for a second.

I drink during football games, and after 4ish. Never drive after I've had wine! Lol Which is my hardest drink. Omgosh, it's just one spectacular nomination after another. Let's get some moonshiners up in this! I have a couple brothers would qualify for a trump position! Lol They voted for him!

I know...he's going to buy a set of those rubber lip guards Robin had in "Batman and Robin" so he could suck face with Poison Ivy without getting killed by her cyanide-laced lipstick.
