Vivek Ramaswamy Considers Rolling Back Government Loan To Tesla Rival, Sparking Conflict Of Interest Issues
Recent comments made by Vivek Ramaswamy highlight conflict of interest concerns with Ramaswamy and Elon Musk leading the Department of Government Efficiency. Donald Trump previously tapped both Ramaswamy and Musk to lead this outside advisory agency that will provide guidance to the federal government on how to make government more efficient.
Ramaswamy recently remarked that the Department will be taking a close look at loans handed out by the federal government in the final days of the Biden Administration.
Once such loan was recently granted to Rivian, a rival of Tesla, which is owned by Elon Musk. The loan was granted by the Department of Energy and is for the amount of $6.6 billion. Rivian is a direct rival of Musk's company.
Now, days after the loan was granted, Ramaswamy is calling for the clawback of funds from Rivian, in a likely boon to Musk's company. Ramaswamy called the clawback "high on the list of items" that the Department will look at and further stated: Those types of last-minute actions that are taking place in the lame duck merit particularly special scrutiny.
