Today is Eugene V. Debs' birthday.

His bio is impressive and the details fascinating. You can start here:

He was a union leader, Socialist Party of America and Industrial Workers of the World founding member, lifelong advocate of workers' rights. Should've been President, but no way would the U.S. political and economic elite stand for it. There probably hasn't been another politician of his stature or integrity since his death in 1926.

The last day of broadcast was August 31, 2001.

It was the last local progressive talk radio station on the AM dial.
