Jane Fonda Calls Out Bill Maher For Claiming Trump Won Because Of 'Nutty' 'Far Left'

Jane Fonda Calls Out Bill Maher For Claiming Trump Won Because Of 'Nutty' 'Far Left'
“I think you're very cynical,” Fonda said at one point in her conversation with Maher.
By Elyse Wanshel
Jane Fonda and Bill Maher agree that they’re not fans of President-elect Donald Trump — but their shared opinion seems to end there.
...
Although Fonda did not push back at this or some of Maher’s other arguments, it was abundantly clear that she did not agree with his opinions. This came to a head later on in the episode, when Maher rambled about Fonda’s long career of activism and implied that even if she lived in a utopia, “it would be the greatest pain” for her because “you’re there for the cause ... but also the cause is there for you a little.”

Visibly confused, Fonda replied, ”You’re so different then me that it’s hard for me sometimes to even understand what you’re talking about.”

And those of you DU'ers who are still contributing to Maher by watching his show: Fucking stop it. He's been our enemy for years.

If I want to listen to an old, rich white guy parroting RW talking points, I'll watch FAUX News.

because he is cynical and does not relate to how anyone could find purpose in holding their government accountable.

A middle finger to Maher is all he deserves.

When he used the NAACP's Travel Advisory to Florida as an example of the "far left" going "too far".
First, if anything, African Americans generally believe the NAACP is "too conservative" and behind the times. That Bill Maher believes that organization to be "far left" displays a stunning level of ignorance on his part.
Allowing my leftist ideology to come to the fore, I would say that BM's bourgeois utterances come from the fact that he is a rich white man who likes sport bedding Black woman not only for pleasure but also to establish some sort of proximity to "hipness" he likes to fancy he has. I'd like to lock him in a room with Angela Davis, Tarana Burke and the founders of the #BLM movement and have them beat him upside the head with a copy of the Grundrisse to knock some sense into him.
As to the aforementioned Travel Advisory, here it is in its entirety: https://naacp.org/articles/naacp-issues-travel-advisory-florida

I'll end with a quote from Dr. King that to me, describes Maher perfectly: "Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity,"

A few weeks ago I watched a pretty good example. In a rant about Democrats shunning Trump voters he mention the sheriff that posted that his department would not respond to calls for help from households with Harris signs. And then he compared that to the fired FEMA employee that advised workers to avoid houses that had Trump signs.

Okay on the surface, that might appear to be equally outrageous, but the latter needs context. FEMA workers were getting DEATH THREATS from Trump supporters in the area. Still wrong, and the FEMA employee was fired but hardly equivalent. All of the outrage was directed at the FEMA workers, but not the MAGA assholes who were making threats and the GOP politicians that were lying and spreading lunatic conspiracy stories.

I don't watch him all that often, but when Maher attacks the "Nutty Left", he seems to draw on stories that are taken from right-wing sources at face value.
