Rebels nearing Assad's palace

News Eye
‪@newseye.bsky.social‬
The Assad regime is surely in its final hours.

This video is in Jaramana, a suburb of the capital Damascus. People tear down the statue of Assad’s predecessor & father, Hafez.

This is happening only a few kilometres from Assad’s Presidential palace.

May Assad swing by his neck or a round between his eyes and hopefully eventually will see same for Putin and Fat Kim of North Korea.

He is the one who nauseates me alot with his weasel face.

I hope the people of that nation get the democracy they deserve.

These authoritarian governments are never great for people.

In retrospect, this isn't surprising. Syria and its backers, Russia and Iran, were never able to fully squash the various revolutionaries, some backed by the US and our western allies, some considered terrorist groups or abject horror stories like IS. The revolts were allowed to smolder and now, with Russia and Iran distracted and overstretched by their own problems, they've reignited.

We should be careful in celebrating Assad's forces getting their asses kicked. Generally a good thing, maybe, but it's complicated, and some of the various players don't play nice by international standards. Some may be worse than Assad on his worst day.

What comes to my mind is this could be dangerous. Destabilizing and dangerous. Normally, we could rely on a competent US executive branch to do their best in ensuring US and allied interests. Not after January 2025 and that adds to a whole bunch of other anxieties. Where's this going to go and will this affect Americans directly? We could rely on Biden to thread that needle in our best interests. Trump and his bush league minions are probably going to fuck this up royally and where will that lead? Just one more thing keeping me awake at night.

Good points. This is one reason I wish we had capable adults in power coming up next year instead of these buffoons.

At least back in his first term he had some guard rails, this is not the case for the upcoming shit show. He is putting out country at risk.

I find him nauseating, still boggles my mind he slithered back into power.

I not only despise the maggots, but I also can't stand the both sides idiots who didn't vote. Not enough blame goes towards them.
