of Hezbollah in Lebanon, preoccupation of Russia in Ukraine, all probably contributed to the rapid overthrow of the assad regime by Syrian rebels.

will be all that much better. Guessing it will be fractured and non-functioning state. Trump and friends will probably pay little attention to what's next for the ME other than giving Israel free rein to do whatever they want (with little thought into long-term peace prospects).

not even realizing we have troops there. Biden is making sure ISIS doesn't use this to gain power. Wonder what he can accomplish in a month.

This is not an organic, home-grown "revolution". Far from it, sadly.

Syria is just a pawn in a much larger game, and its people are as unfortunate as the Palestinians who are about to become even more unfortunate, if that is even possible.

And Syria will be balkanized, "neutralized", broken even more and the spoils/land divided amongst three bigger powers.

And the neo-cons' decades-old plan is a lot closer to becoming reality.

Hurray for Assad falling but for nothing else, imo.
