(26,772 posts)He used her image w/o her permission to hawk a product. Pretty sure you can sue for that. 🤔

(35,586 posts)out of court for failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted. Right of publicity/persona is a state right - and not all recognize it. In 14 states, there is no law prohibiting it - so suing in those states would get the claim tossed. In the other 36 states there is a lot of variation in the details of the law.

(1,406 posts)Cowardice is never acceptable. The proper "decorum" is to fight back, especially as a representative of the government. Fuck ANYBODY that let's trump get away with his crap and lies without a fight.

(1,068 posts)Trump is notoriously litigious. Why would Jill want to be wrapped up in court cases and legal fees over this?
BeerBarrelPolka
(1,406 posts)Because she can and it's the correct thing to do. It's done many times by people from all walks of life. I stand fully behind my statement and will never retract it.

(1,068 posts)Even if she wins he will at most get a small fine. Wow way to show him.

(1,406 posts)It's not the dollar amount that matters. It's the principle that you cannot make your own rules and get away with it. And it's not just correct for me. There are laws on the books for situations just like this.

(14,483 posts)Will our current group of Democratic leaders fight, or will they recede to the safety of their positions of privilege? If they do, who's going to step forward?

(1,406 posts)Unreal. So let the world believe she endorses trump's fragrance by her silence? This is mind boggling.

It's like you older Democratic leaders will never learn what we're fighting against.

(6,112 posts)Doubt FLOTUS chose her seat. It is not evident to me that she is smiling at Trump. She may be looking past him or she may be being polite. The implication of the ads statement is unconscionable.
