Mental illness, drugs and homelessness can work both ways. The former doesn't necessarily result in the latter.

Many homeless are workers made homeless by gentrification and unfair system practices by hedge fund investors, banks, or medical bankruptcy, or losing one's job, so that just being homeless could cause them to become mentally ill and turn to drugs.

how out of touch he and other super rich are (not to mention MAGAts in general). I've been homeless. Not for long, thank heavens, but for long enough to know just how dehumanizing it is. And all because I didn't have any money. I had a job but it didn't pay much. Rent was godawfully expensive even back then (college town) and it was winter. I was barely getting by. Finally found a tiny place with a shared kitchen and bath, 3rd floor walkup, but at least it was mine.

And I was NOT a violent mentally ill person, just down on my luck. I'd been evicted "because I had a pet". Wasn't mine. I'd borrowed a cat to get rid of the mice the landlord refused to call an exterminator about. Gave him back once the mice were gone (at least I hoped they were). Never mind, landlord said "you're outtahere" and gave me 2 weeks to leave.

I know homeless people and the homeless community better than he ever could in a million years. Just one of my homeless patients is orders of magnitude better than a billion Elon Musks.

He is impenetrably insulated from ever having to experience the horrors and the rigors of homelessness. But if I had just one wish, it would be that he would have to. Not for long. Not longer than a month. Because I’m satisfied that he wouldn’t live that long.
