1. It's not weird. There are drones of unknown origin reported at military sites.

Most likely Chinese and Russian.

And the US brass knows it.

3. I recently read about a US military AF or Navy air base.

The drones were right on the flight line and runway.
Near the aircraft.

The fight crews and base commander climbed up on one of the flight line
buildings and just watched the drones.

Doing nothing, just looking at them.

Yes I agree with you, I thought that very weird.

It seems apparent that top brass knows about it and has told all crews to stand down.
Do not engage with the drones, do not shoot them down.

Just let the Chinese and Russians spy on us.

5. Where's the evidence of that?

Of the drones being Russian or Chinese and, the US military knows it.

Seems very unlikely to me since no counter measures seem to be taken.

OTOH, maybe it's just another manifestation of the UFO craze (it has the same vibe IMO).

8. The weird part is...

....drones need to land to recharge, and no one has thought of just sending up other drones to track them back to their "base".

Or doesn't. That's how you find out. (Yes, per FAA, it's illegal to shoot down drones. But I bet the military gets a pass, over a military institution.)
