Reichstag fire didn't even work by itself. Hitler had to use those powers to suppress the vote as much as possible before he was able to win a clear majority for him and his coalition in the 1934 election.

Our best hope is that there are those in the Military and Police that are loyal to the Constitution and our Democracy, not to a Dictator like Trump and his MAGA Fascists. I don't doubt that there are some in the Military and Police that will follow illegal orders from Trump, but I think that there are many in those services that would resist such illegal fascist orders. Soldiers like General Milley (who unfortunately is retired). Could be a trigger for Civil War. An internal conflict between MAGA Trump Fascists and Americans in Defense of the Constitution. Military versus Military, Police versus Police. Dreadful. Blue State National Guard may be pitted against Red State Military. Terrible and dangerous.
