GOP lawmakers said to fear 'bloodletting' as they grow tired of bullying by Trump allies

"SNIP...........

The massive push by allies of Donald Trump to make sure that his Cabinet nominees get rubber-stamped by Republican senators is starting to rankle some lawmakers who are growing weary of being bullied.

According to a report from Politico, while Republicans are showing a united front in allowing the president-elect to choose the people he wants to push his agenda forward, behind the scenes there are complaints about "infighting and purity tests" that appear to be growing.

Exhibit A is the fight to get Fox News personality Pete Hegseth over the finish line despite a wealth of accusations of sexual improprieties and reports of public drunkenness.

According to Politico's Ally Mutnick, "Following her initial hesitance toward Pete Hegseth, Trump’s embattled Defense Secretary pick, Sen. Joni Ernst came in for a raft of criticism from Republicans in her home state of Iowa. Sen. Bill Cassidy, one of four remaining senators who voted to impeach Trump in 2021, just drew a formal primary challenge. And moderate Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) are already starting to catch some heat from party activists."

"You can lead a horse to the water, you just can't make it drink."

Perhaps that is beginning to play out here. Republican Senators are not going to to be bullied just because they have an R after their names? Perhaps some of them actually do have a spine after all. We shall see.

Watch this space.

You remind me of the adorable little boy who found horse manure in his Christmas stocking. As he headed out the door in his pajamas his father asked him what he was doing. “There’s gotta be a pony around here somewhere, Santa left his poop in my stocking,”

These assholes will never stand up to him. His re-election was the final nail in the coffin.

Having hope nowadays seems so naive, especially on people doing the right thing.

NONE of them has shown anything resembling courage when it really counted. They're all too enthralled with their government paychecks and benefits to take on a demented, depraved degenerate. They will cave again. THAT you can count on.

Even on the local level. It’s becoming clearer every day.

Retrumplicans are scarce here. I only know of about a half dozen of them.

The Republicans are quite a bit more numerous. For the most part, all they know about politics is scanning down a ballot and checking off the “R”s.

I believe Trump took advantage of this tendency. Whether by design or blunder, I don’t know.

Every time the Tangeranus and his flying monkeys are exposed to the air it becomes clearer that even though the “R” won, the Republicans lost.

This is why I continue to support the likes of Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney. While I doubt anybody can get through to the Retrumplicans, they may be able to get through to the Republicans in a way that I am unable to.

51 republicans will vote for every republican nominee. I know they have 53 votes, but up to two of them will be allowed to abstain.
