(539 posts)have All Wheel Drive. You can see front and back engaged. Yes, all wheel and 4 wheel get mired down too.
Still an ugly vehicle.

(48,258 posts)not buying it for the design. You're buying it because of his name.
The Delorean, beautiful car. The CyberTruck, WTF?

(70,303 posts)Built out of N-304 stainless steel. 304 does not play well with chlorides. On the north, we use lots of that on put roads.
304 is susceptible to chloride stress cracking, plus it can react with metals near the surface forming chloride salts of chromium & nickel. The former is purple, the latter is green. Mix those 2 colors and we'll get brown.
Plus, it exposes sites for oxidizing the iron.
Cars I've seen around here so far are nice & shiny. I have doubts they'll look like that in 3-5 years.

(876 posts)See a lot of them in So Cal. They try to paint them with flashy designs to make it better but it just augments the ugliness.

(51,557 posts)Several companies that make precut Cybertruck wraps exist. They claim you can install it yourself, but having wrapped vehicles myself I assure you that if you have $1200 worth of vinyl sitting there in a box you REALLY need to take the vehicle to a sign shop and have the wrap installed by someone who's trained in it.

(19,868 posts)So basically youre rolling the dice that once you wrap a Cyberdumpster youll have to wrap it forever.

(51,557 posts)The vinyl they wrap cars with has a five-year lifespan. I figure the Cybertruck crowd is buying vinyl that's already the color they want it instead of buying white vinyl that's been printed. By the time your wrap is unserviceable, you'll probably want a different car anyway. I REALLY can't imagine these things in classic car shows 30 years from now.

(16,578 posts)I've yet to see one loaded with woodchips or lumber. The manure they'd carry would be behind the steering wheel.

MichMan
(13,391 posts)Name one "thing" that a 4WD vehicle has that is missing from an AWD Cybertruck.
1) DIFFERENTIAL LOCKERS: CYBERTRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH LOCKING DIFFERENTIALS
FOR INCREASED PERFORMANCE AND STABILITY DURING LOW-TRACTION AND OFF-ROAD
CONDITIONS (EX: DRIVING ON ROCKY OR DIRT ROADS).
DUAL MOTOR VARIANTS: ARE EQUIPPED WITH MECHANICAL FRONT AND REAR LOCKING
DIFFERENTIALS.
TRI-MOTOR (CYBERBEAST) VARIANTS: ARE EQUIPPED WITH A MECHANICAL FRONT LOCKING
DIFFERENTIAL, AND A VIRTUAL REAR LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL TO PROVIDE SUFFICIENT TORQUE IN
EACH REAR WHEEL. THE REAR LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGES IN CERTAIN DRIVE
MODES AND SPEEDS, AND CANNOT BE MANUALLY ENGAGED OR DISENGAGED
LOCKING DIFFERENTIALS: IF ONE WHEEL BECOMES AIRBORNE WHILE CLIMBING UP OR OVER AN
OBSTACLE, THE LOCKING DIFFERENTIALS WILL APPLY TORQUE TO THE WHEEL WITH GREATER
TRACTION TO KEEP THE VEHICLE MOVING.
2) FOUR-WHEEL STEERING: CYBERTRUCK HAS FOUR-WHEEL STEERING. WHEN THE DRIVER TURNS
THE STEERING WHEEL, ALL FOUR WHEELS RESPOND. THIS GIVES CYBERTRUCK A TIGHTER
TURNING RADIUS.
3) STEER-BY-WIRE: CYBERTRUCK USES STEER-BY-WIRE TECHNOLOGY, MEANING THERE IS
NO PHYSICAL CONNECTION BETWEEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND TIRES, AND INSTEAD
USES SENSORS TO COMMUNICATE BETWEEN THEM. AS A RESULT, STEERING FEELS MORE
RESPONSIVE AND ADAPTIVE BASED ON THE TERRAIN AND DRIVING SPEED. STALLING THE
MOTORS FOR AN EXTENDED TIME MAY CAUSE THEM TO OVERHEAT.
4) INSTANT, LINEAR, AND PREDICTABLE TORQUE: TORQUE AVAILABILITY AT ZERO SPEED IS A
UNIQUE DIFFERENCE FROM COMBUSTION ENGINES AND MAKES CLIMBING OBSTACLES AND
INCLINES MUCH EASIER.
5) ADAPTIVE DAMPING: THE COMPRESSION AND REBOUND OF THE DAMPERS ARE ADJUSTED
BASED ON YOUR DRIVING MODE TO MAXIMIZE TRACTION AND COMFORT.
ADJUSTABLE AIR SPRINGS: ENABLE ADJUSTABLE RIDE HEIGHT. HIGH SETTING REPRESENTS
THE IDEAL SETTING FOR COMPRESSION AND REBOUND BALANCE. INCREASING THE RIDE
HEIGHT WILL INCREASE YOUR GROUND CLEARANCE BUT COMES WITH A TRADE-OFF, REDUCING
YOUR AVAILABLE COMPRESSION AND WILL MAKE THE RIDE HARSHER. IN SEVERAL RIDE
HEIGHTS THE VEHICLE ENFORCES A SPEED LIMIT TO AVOID HARDWARE DAMAGE. VERY HIGH
(25MPH) AND EXTRACT (10 MPH).

(48,258 posts)When we go skiing the rental car companies won't let us out of the office without 4wd. I am guessing it's to avoid the kind of messes that were recorded in the videos?
Maybe it's because they don't want to be called to pull their cars out?
