Remembering Claus von Stauffenberg

Count Claus von Stauffenberg was born in Stauffenberg Castle, Jettingen on November 15, 1907. He was an affluent, white Christian male from a high ranking German family. He was well educated and choose a career in the military where he achieved the rank of Colonel. However, by 1944 Stauffenberg grew disillusioned and bitter with the establishment and tried to assassinate Adolph Hitler by planting a bomb in a conference room which killed others but not Hitler.

So the question is, was Stauffenberg a murderous bad guy or a hero? Sometimes these questions are not so black and white as some seem to think they are.

"Be careful what you wish for."

Had he been successful in killing Hitler, a competent leader might have emerged, lengthening the war.
