Appeasement and fear

have consequences. 30 - 40 million people starved to death under the Great Leap Forward in China for two main reasons. First Mao appointed a crony to run Agriculture. He knew nothing about agriculture but his job was to inject politics into the country's source of food to change how their society worked.

Second, farmers were expected to meet unrealistic goals for production. Rather than admit (out of fear) they could not meet those goals, the village leaders allowed their own villages to starve.

It is an old playbook that trump is using. We know the Rs are "go along to get along" so they too will appease out of fear. I hope the Dems are not going to put fear of investigations and legal fees, to say nothing of the death threats ahead of saving this country.

We really are fucked. Look at Fetterman appeasing Trump. Wray just giving way to Trump appointee. This is all fascism 101. Why is no one fighting? Does Wray lose retirement if he is fired?

At this rate Garland and Biden will hug Trump during inauguration.

While there will be much chaos and suffering under Trump, there will not be a famine in the US, because the free market won’t allow it.

Farmers will grow what they can sell- there won’t be any quotas dictated to them by any central committee.

was not to imply we will starve. I wanted to point out there are serious consequences to living in fear and appeasing horrible, illegal, and unconstitutional behaviors.

Intimidation works. You can put all government employees in the crosshairs of intimidation. Elected officials will be intimidated to do trump's bidding (that has lasted for 8 years already). Good people will quit rather than risk the hell he wants to bring down on people who do not go along. It is a slippery slope.

In China, it was not the end of the world - just for 30-40 million. Here it will be the end of the world for a few at a time and barely noticeable as programs are cut and reduced. Abandoning our allies for a more cooperative relationship with Russia will see casualties. etc. The free market will not save us as they devour what they can. I remember a pesticide company that was implicated in causing breast cancer. They fought to keep their product on the market but hedged their bet by buying a company that made chemo drugs. That is the free market.

It will take courage to get through this.
