(12 posts)He claims he really wants to separate FEMA from the Dept of Homeland Security. He has highly praised Musk recently for the DOGE idea.
Of everyone so far, I hope he continues his assault on the Republican Party, but apparently he and his family have been getting threatened by MAGA cowards.

(781 posts)Because U.S. party labels are intentionally generic so as to fool voters, and because Democrats stand for everything in general (big tent-ism) and thus nothing in particular, and because Republicans have coalesced around oligarchic fascism; what could help clear things up for non-MAGA and non-Christofascist voters is for groups like New York's Working Families Party and Vermont's Progressive party to go national, do concise and deep vetting on candidates, and follow up by mercilessly making life miserable for any politician who votes against the faction's program. The hope would be that candidates would eventually come to seek out such endorsements and stick to the program unless they could justify other actions.
Doing things this way might give folks something closer to a choice in the primaries and the faction would not have to go through the nightmare of trying to quality as a third party in 50 states. Voters backing the primary losers would then have the choice whether to compromise and vote for someone or just stay home on Election Day.
Factions would have to have a clear program/agenda, which goes against the grain of American politics (the dreaded so-called bipartisanship thing). Since the Corporate-and-Finance "Clinton" Liberals control most of the party pursestrings, alternative funding would be essential to any such project. I thought groups like Occupy Democrats and Justice Democrats were on the path toward this, but their efforts seem to be mostly directed toward web propaganda, and the effects of their efforts seem to be diminishing of late.
To be clear, I use the "could" and "might" quite purposefully. There would be much resistance to any such more, and moreover, any system can be played. The above probably wouldn't rule out an opportunist climber like Kyrsten Sinema, played the progressive for years before working only to ensure wealthy lifestyle for herself after her one term was done.
