Drones are aircraft and it is illegal to shoot down an aircraft, even if a drone is spying on your house. Fire fighting aircraft have been buzzed by drones wanting to get a closer look at them but those can't be shot down either.

and take any charges to court.

Might lose on law, but I bet there would be some jurors who think we should be able to shoot a drone over our property, especially one low enough not to impact larger, higher aircraft.

and I think he beat the criminal charges having to do with firing the gun (he claimed his children's privacy was being violated), and the civil lawsuit from the drone operator also got tossed later.
