(12,832 posts)Looks like we're going to have a hard time keeping it as long as Trump is around.
Elon and the felon both have to go!!!!!!! I have a feeling if these Reps stop these town halls next stop should be to go to their offices. Just keep on them.

(22,424 posts)Republicans will stop the charade altogether soon eno0ugh. They do not work for or answer to the voters, they answer to the billionaires who won the country now.

(91,379 posts)...THREE VOTES.
No one should be satisfied just relating their cynicism in what the outcome might be about a political process unfolding RIGHT NOW in congressional committees and on the floor.
Democratic legislators are the ONLY ones standing up and representing for the people in these hearings and votes.
They are asking Americans to call the republican legislators and demand they keep their hands off of our benefits and reverse their plan to rob the treasury for their rich selves and Musk's rich friends.
I don't think that's too much to ask when people are yelling at Democrats to do more to pressure republicans to act, or do more to urge US to act. It's insidiously apathetic to criticize these actions.
The American people are the ONLY pressure these republicans respond to, when they respond. They are politicians who depend on the people for their jobs, but it's become cw that these politicians are politically inviolable.
That's not just a surrender to them, it's cowering from weak, ignorant assholes who are just as succeptible to the facts of life and elections as any other pol.
Do your political duty and CONFRONT REPUBLICANS.
Cynicism and apathy is 'window dressing' not political action, ffs.

These 17 House Republicans won by fewer votes than the number of people they want to steal health care from.
Social Security Works @SSWorks
Congress is about to vote on a Republican budget that would destroy Medicaid.
These 17 House Republicans won by fewer votes than the number of people they want to steal health care from.
We are sending billboards to their districts to demand they vote NO on the budget.

(3,880 posts)Now, they're calling in private security contractors and SWAT teams because they're starting to fear us. And that fear in them is something unexpected. Next thing you know, Republicans will be canceling their own town halls. That's when the Democrats better invade their turf, hold REAL town halls, and tell voters how their Republican representative has teamed up with Trump, Musk, and Putin to screw them. Go Austin 3:16 on them.
ShazzieB
(19,558 posts)I have no idea what that means, but I agree with the Democrats in these districts using this as an opportunity to tell voters what the score is.

I still don't know what the 3:16 part means, but I'm fine with not knowing.

(19,558 posts)I was raised Southern Baptist, with heavy emphasis on memorizing scripture. I noticed the 3:16 right away, and thought, "that's odd," but I didn't automatically assume it was a biblical reference, because.... well I didn't see any reason to do so.
Tbh, I'm still not sure what Austin 3:16 has to do with John 3:16, but that's okay.

(318 posts)Its the verse that basically succinctly explains the Jesus story.

(19,558 posts)Was raised Southern Baptist, with heavy emphasis on memorizing scripture, still remember a lot of it, including that verse.
I did not assume it was a biblical reference, because the verse is from the Gospel of John, not Austin.

(17,542 posts)Ron Johnson has a group of citizens meeting outside his office today at 1:00 in Madison since he NEVER answers his phone and his mailbox is full. I'm guessing this office is a storefront and we will find locked doors and dark rooms.

I bet our pushback against this fascist takeover won't get the same breathless coverage from the legacy media that the tea party morons/astroturf did.

(29,534 posts)Just looking at the images of these public meetings reminded me of Bob Marley's lyrics: "Get up, stand up, stand up for your rights. Don't give up the fight." I hadn't thought of those words in years---but I'm damn sure thinking of them, now. Raise hell, and let's start taking our country back!
