I bought Canadian beer today. I think I beat the tariff, it was as cheap as the American brands. Got into a discussion with I think the owner about foreign brands. I asked about Fosters, says it's made in Texas now. And one of the German brands, same, made down south. Says the beers were great when they were imported because of the water. Just not very good anymore and sales are down. Had one Japanese brand. Wasn't Suntory.

Tariffs were used to offset cheaper manufacturing from overseas imports typically due to labor costs. Think Harley Davidson in the early 80s.

Now they are used when someone upsets the big orange baby…..
