Not much of a security guarantee

I am full of wonderment at the statement by both trump and johnson that the mere presence of US miners at work in Ukraine would guarantee the sovereignty of Ukraine. That's so laughable!! What fool would believe that? Zelenskyy's not a fool. It makes you wonder what is inside trump and johnson's heads. It's not inspiring at all to think that these people might actually believe that security is so easy. Dumbasses.

This admobistration doesn't care about the security of US miners ANYWHERE. Let alone the security of Ukraine.

"they got well paid to take risks, they knew the dangers". I'm not at all surprised Trump tried to pretend he'd give a shit about workers; It's possible Johnson once might have thought taking care of Americans was his duty, but I guess he's now brainwashed enough to just repeat what Trump says.

5. Of course it is not a security guarantee

Nor do Trump and co think it is. Trump saw an opportunity to strip the riches from a weaker country and be praised by his mentor. He thinks the rest of the world and the American people are so stupid, they would believe him or he can bully people into accepting his BS and just stay silent while he runs over Zelenskyy. It is no different with his tariffs, he thinks he can bully people into doing what he wants. The republicans are capitulating with enthusiasm but the rest of us are not. He lives in that little bubble of cowards and others are standing up to him and I don’t think he can quite believe it. He still thinks everyone is afraid of him and will bend to his will.

6. Trump officials fume at Zelenskyy for disregarding advice before meeting

This may not have been a staged stunt but trump's over-reaction to President Zelenskyy not following the script that trump want to present to the world. trump wanted to sign the rare earths/raw earths mineral deal that had on security guarantees to score a political victory. trump want to "discuss" securities guarantees at a later date (perhaps after Putin was declared the victor and got everything he wanted. President Zelensky brought up security guarantees and what we saw on Friday was an over-reaction to trump not getting what he wanted.

Trump officials fume at Zelenskyy for disregarding advice before meeting: Officials say minerals deal would serve as commitment to US security guarantee and Ukraine leader shouldn’t have pressed issue

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/mar/01/trump-officials-zelenskyy

Inside the Trump White House, officials blamed the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for the meltdown in the Oval Office on Friday, and expressed frustration that he pushed for security guarantees even though the US had made clear they wanted to negotiate that later, according to people familiar with the matter.

The officials had told their Ukrainian counterparts in advance of the meeting that Trump wanted to sign an economic partnership this week at a ministerial level, as aides worked on the details about security guarantees.

Trump saw the minerals deal as the first phase of a broader economic partnership and told aides it showed the US was effectively making a commitment on security guarantees, because the agreement deal would mean the US had a vested interest in Ukraine’s economic prosperity.

The officials believed that had all been communicated to Ukraine, as was the advice that senators gave Zelenskyy on Friday morning to praise Trump and not litigate the issue of wanting stronger security guarantees to his face.

To Trump’s aides, Zelenskyy did not heed that advice when he expressed skepticism at JD Vance’s view of making peace with Russia and, in their view, lectured the US vice-president on the history of Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine that started in 2014 with the annexation of Crimea......

Trump officials said privately on Saturday that Trump still wants to sign the minerals deal, but an immediate reset appeared unlikely with Trump scheduled to attend a fundraising dinner for the Maga Inc super political action committee in Palm Beach and Zelenskyy’s departure from the US for the UK......

Appearing on Fox News that evening, Zelenskyy referred to Ronald Reagan’s dictum that “peace is more than just an absence of war” and suggested that because Putin had broken dozens of ceasefire agreements already, more work was needed to reach “a just and lasting peace”. Trump appeared unimpressed when he boarded Marine One en route to Palm Beach, telling reporters[b ] that Zelenskyy needed to say publicly that he wanted to make peace and stop saying “negative things” about Putin.

trump trusts Putin and wanted this rare earths/raw earths mineral deal without explicit security guarantees becuase trump trusts Putin. President Zelensky was correct in NOT trusting Putin which pissed off trump and Vance.

To me this means that Friday was not a planned event but another example of trump's temper/stupidity getting in the way of negotiating a real peace.

Djt is/was hoping that this Ukraine ceasefire/peace deal between Russia and Ukraine would bring djt the Nobel Peace Prize he so drools and covets.

After all Obama got one to place on his mantle,... djt should have one too especially because he is a White guy.

I saw Vance start it, and I think trump was ready to stop until he cued off of Vance and started in on Zelenskyy like a pitbull. I think they knew the deal was not going through because Zelenskyy quite rightly wasn't going to sign his country's wealth away without those security guarantees. I think that's why various countries spoke up with commitments to send troops to Ukraine. That was helpful.

The pres and vp are insane. Zelenskyy must have understood how Biden felt during that debate. They were not exercising diplomacy, just a gang attack on a guy who had to take it for his country. Ukraine can feel proud of him.

Oh, and Johnson is behind the times as far as Zelenskyy resigning. I believe Zelenskyy already said publicly he would resign if it meant security for his country. Johnson is just an ass.

trump just a little too eager to get his hands on the rare earth stuff. And, no one is discussing how they intend to process the ore, because apparently it takes a special facility to do it. A lot of materials are sent to China, and Russia has one, I think. So, I'm not sure how that deal would work for Ukraine. Something fishy, there.
