the U.S. would send aid, $$&, food, medical supplies, a hospital ship. I seriously doubt the orange felonious racist rapist even thinks of these things….and if it does it will want something big in return BEFORE any assistance is sent.

I am so ashamed of this country!

offering all manner of assistance, and then telling the American people about our efforts. It's just who we are. Or, I guess, who we were.

That the military head of Myanmar gov. is requesting international help. I can't recall them ever doing this before; the country is pretty much a blank slate, like North Korea.

Myanmar's isolated military junta has issued a rare plea for international help after an earthquake killed at least 144 people, with warnings the number would likely rise.

Friday's 7.7-magnitude quake shook the region, with neighbouring Thailand continuing rescue efforts after a 30-storey construction site collapsed, killing at least three people and trapping dozens of others under the rubble.

While the full extent of the catastrophe was still emerging, the leader of Myanmar's ruling military junta, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, addressed the country in a televised address.

After confirming the number of dead, he said 732 others had been injured.

Here are the latest developments:

The official death toll stands at 1,002, according to Myanmar's junta government, with 2,376 people injured
Rescue workers are racing against time to save survivors buried under collapsed buildings after the quake struck Myanmar's second-largest city yesterday afternoon
There are similar scenes in Bangkok, where officials say at least 15 people are still alive underneath metres of rubble after an unfinished high-rise collapsed in Chatuhak
Air strikes and drone attacks have continued in Myanmar, the People's Defense Force says. The country been under military rule since a coup in 2021

And, as an example of how getting aid in will be hard:

The main airport in Myanmar’s capital of Naypyitaw has been closed after Friday’s earthquake caused its air traffic control tower to collapse, killing at least six people, according to a news report.

The independent outlet Myanmar Now also said there were reports of extensive damage to aviation equipment.

It reported a source as saying that an air traffic controller, three female assistants, the son of one of the assistants and a military intelligence officer were confirmed dead following the collapse of the tower.

The report could not be independently verified.

It also cited an aviation officer at Yangon’s international airport as saying the radar systems at the airports in Naypyitaw and Mandalay were no longer operating.
