interests, and not the interests of citizens, then it makes sense.

It also makes sense if they actually believe climate change is real, despite publicly saying it is not. The U.S. will run out of water, cropland, etc., and Greenland and Canada are going to melt, making more mineral and fossil fuel exploration possible.
