I’m not sure if it’s the best reason, but could it be possibly Trump will give Russia access to set up military bases?
Trump, himself, was talking about have a path to move thru the area and go after the minerals supposedly are under the icebergs?
I’m guessing on this, but I maybe not accurate! Trump is so gun ho for this to happen. I wonder if Putin has offered Trump a lot for the takeover?

(7,082 posts)Putin has probably told Trump he needs to invade Greenland, in order to draw in European forces, thus diverting those resources away from Ukraine and the east.

(64,147 posts)Granting Russia concessions on an American-controlled Greenland is not that far-fetched. After all, Trump trusts Putin as a man of his word, who will honestly deal with him in a carve-up of imperial spheres of influence.

(21,293 posts)the value is in the shipping lanes. Due to climate change, the waterways are open for longer times, making it useful for all kinds of shipping. If a NATO country has a stake in controlling those shipping lanes, trump wants to get rid of them. The largest land holdings there are Russia and Canada. He has to take control of Canada to get control of the lanes because Putin is his buddy and will share with the US - hah!
On page 2 you can see a map of the area. The US is minority holder of land and waterways that will control access to 75% of the globe.
