RFK Jr must be proud.
“It’s coming out of the health and wellness … influencer industry that downplays the importance of vaccines and tries to promote various spectacular cures like ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine or vitamin A,” Hotez added.

Organs are rare. Pediatric organs are even more rare. They need to go to someone whose parents believe in science and will do everything in their power to caretake them. They wouldn’t even care take their children’s own organs. They will not caretake the organs of another child whose parents want to give someone else a chance.

(35,949 posts)Is that “vitamin A” is a vital nutrient. Nobody needs ivermectin and few need hydroxychloroquine.
We all need Vitamin A and it’s vilification is going to have lasting negative effects.
Tequila Bob throws it out there in one form. Yet, there are at least two that I am aware of and humans need some of both. The bottom line is that the only thing Vitamin A “cures” is the malnutrition of not having enough Vitamin A.

(36,433 posts)It can be, with chronic overconsumption of vitamin A (a period of 1-8 years). But the linked story (and stories the story linked to) don't suggest that is what they are seeing now in kids in Texas.

An unnecessary setback at an early age can store up trouble for the future, especially if there are comorbidities. And obviously a lot depends on access to decent lifestyle and healthcare.

Medical disinformation connected to the West Texas measles outbreak has created a new problem. Children are being treated for toxic levels of vitamin A.
Covenant Children’s Hospital in Lubbock confirms it is treating children with severe cases of measles who are also suffering from vitamin A toxicity. According to the hospital, they have admitted fewer than 10 pediatric patients who were all initially hospitalized due to measles complications but have elevated levels of vitamin A that is resulting in abnormal liver function.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. directed the CDC to update its measles guidance to promote the use of vitamin A.

(20,867 posts)and any extra you take isn't stored in your body. It's just excreted in your urine. Vitamin A is fat soluble and any extra you consume is stored in your liver. That's why it can build up to toxic liver. The livers of polar bears and bearded seals are so high in vitamin A that you can die from eating too much of them. The Inuit will eat most of the parts of animals they hunt, but they not to eat the liver of these animals.
