He's trying to get the party to focus, have a clear message that resonates, keep our core values but also realize we need to be proactive to peoples needs, etc. And of course take the fight to the GOP instead of being reactive and on the defense. We always say here that we want someone to bring the fight to them and when someone does, its "we're giving them a platform". In order to beat someone up in the boxing ring, you have to face your opponent in the ring.
Furthermore, we are all over the map on issues. Voters see that.
