I shall make an effort not to financially support all those companies---

However, "Boost Mobile" leaves me in a quandry---
I still have service with them for only $10 a month, with one gig of data,
a pandemic price plan which will continue until I quit it, or until they quit me...
and I can't afford to pay more to someone else---

(I hardly stream or do anything much on it, and it is usually connected through my home wireless---
only ever approached my data limit when I turned off the home internet for some reason...)

However, I suspect that any possible cell-service alternative company
will not be without a "multitude of sins" themselves of the same sort!

(Way back when I quit "America Online", I told the obviously Indian customer service representative
(("AMERICA Online"??))
that I was doing it because of their support of the George W. Bush administration...)

For instance, it blacklists firms in some cases simply for having employees (many of these firms have thousands of employees) who donated to Rethugs, whilst the firm itself did not.

A grand daughter of the founder, Linda Bean, was a big magat and well known Repuke nut job in Maine. Caused a hell of a stink in 2016 / 2017. Thankfully, she "expired" in early 2024. Though a handful of those tied to the company donated to Trump this cycle, the vast majority donated to Dems. The company itself reported no donations.

Put simply, they're southern Maine. They know which side their bread is buttered on and it ain't colored orange. They're not into brand destruction like Elmo.

There was a similar list circulating a few months ago which was allegedly tied to a famous progressive. I checked a few and the allegations against the few I checked were either false (no donation) or misleading (split donations - more to Dems than to Republicans). And the person the list was tied to disclaimed it.

I have no idea who this person is, or where she got the list. But just be cautious about relying on a list curated by a random person on the internet.

I saw that everything at the beginning of the list was alphabetized, so I just scrolled. (I think I was on my cell phone when I first saw the list, so searching for a word within a page is a bit more complicated than on a computer - the difference makes scrolling on the phone faster - but obviously less accurate!

Mon Mar 31, 2025, 06:36 PM
Mar 2025

It cherry-picks data and also conflates individual employees with the firms themselves, so if some people working for a firm give to Rethugs, the entire firm is black-listed by the list, which is dodgy AF in terms of methodology.

Here is an older DU OP with the same list

https://www.democraticunderground.com/100219776816 (notice that the YT video for that one has been taken down)

here are my replies from that thread:

https://www.democraticunderground.com/100219776816#post29

That app is cherry picking old data from OpenSecrets.

Paul Ryan has not run since 2016, for example.

In the last 3 cycles, 2020, 2022, and 2024, the vast majority of contributions from individuals at Urban Outfitters have went to Democratic candidates.

Also, it is problematic to cast blame on entire companies in general for the actions of some of their employees.

I am sorry, but I am going to have to give a hard pass to that app that list, and that video.

Cheers,

Cel

https://www.democraticunderground.com/100219776816#post30

It actually is not, see my replies in this thread. The information is cherry picked and misleading.

I hope my years here on DU exposing corporate abuse and skulduggery lend some legitimacy to my call-out. I am absolutely not a corporate shill type, but I also do my due diligence, and this list is not something I feel is accurate and/or reliable enough to label firms with based solely upon what it says.
