Both Ladbrokes and William Hill are now offering on odds on Trump winning in 2028 or a third time via presidential election, I think this is a suitable move, as a trading bet at 16/1.
I have no confidence in the Supreme Court stopping Trump standing in 2028 and eventually Betfair will have to offer odds on Trump standing/winning in 2028, this and an expectation that elections in 2028 might not be free and fair is why I expect many punters to swerve these markets for a while.

(373 posts)There's no way he can run in 2028 due to the constitution and there's no way they get that overturned. Even if you think he gets in via not having an election (we definitely will) or if you think he gets in via something like being the Speaker of the House and Republicans winning the presidency in 2028, then resigning both the presidency and VP, he wouldn't be elected.
That said, his talk of running again is some combination of feeding his ego, distracting from his general failures, feeding his cult, saying something so the press talks about him, and distracting from the buffoonery of the Signal screw up.

(373 posts)You might remember he lost in 2020. Not many dictators have that happen.

They've put betting odds out of Michelle Obama as President for like 3 straight terms, even after the Democratic Primaries were over.
They'll let you put money on anything.

(1,741 posts)The con is not going to get a third term. Simply entertaining the idea as if it is legitmate is pure trolling. People need to stop acting as if every ridiculous thing the con says is based in reality.
