President Trump has said that the global tariffs he plans to announce this week will correct decades of unfair relationships and stop other countries from ripping off the United States. But whether the president’s so-called reciprocal tariffs will result in higher levies on other nations or lower ones remains unclear.
The president has described his global tariffs as a negotiating tool that could force other countries to drop their trade barriers to American products and result in more goods flowing across borders.
But the president has also talked about the tariffs as a way to raise revenue for the government and shift supply chains back to the United States. For those goals to be accomplished, relatively high tariffs would have to be imposed, and not dropped.
Those conflicting goals will come to a head this week, when Mr. Trump is expected to reveal the details of his reciprocal tariff plan. Mr. Trump has taken to calling April 2 “liberation day,” saying it will represent the country breaking free of past trade relationships that he says have hurt the United States.

(469 posts)I heard they had a decent showing in March Madness this year-- maybe their best showing since the 94 and 95 seasons?

And the baseball team is once again top 5 material.

(469 posts)I lived near the baseball field on Razorback Road. I think the Razorback baseballers were actually Number One in 1987 or 88. They were spectacular, but all the emphasis at the time was on football and basketball
We lived in Farmington at that time. I used to call some of the games for KUAF when Debriyn was Coach. For me the Golden Age of Hog Sports was the late 70s. Mainly cause I saw it live. I’d doesnt take one long to know I’m a Hog Fan by walking into my garage or basement or office.

(469 posts)Farmington was just down the road from where I lived. I'd pass through it all the time on my way to Lincoln, where I had a couple of part-time jobs

(42,130 posts)From the late 70s through the 80s. I don’t think there was an ARN when I interned at KUAF, late 70s. The campus station is now affiliated with NPR. I did a few chit chat shows. We’d do our best to fill up the airwaves. I doubt our signal reached all of Fayetteville. Bill and Hillary lived in Fayetteville in the early 70s. My wife and I had a great time living in Hogville.

(469 posts)It was a wild and crazy place back then, with the Dream Merchant on Dixon Street doing a brisk business I think I might have even heard some ads for the Dream Merchant on KUAF. If not KUAF, then certainly KKEG, the most aptly named radio station for a college town

And of course Maxine’s Tap Room and George’s Majestic Lounge. Our Good Ole Days. I still have a very colorful KKEG bumper sticker, never used.

(469 posts)It was a really big deal back then. There was a bookstore there where I'd go to buy a Schwann catalog or foreign language dictionary. My mom liked to eat at Wyatt's Cafeteria, then we'd stop off at the mall after visiting my grandma at City Hospital.

(469 posts)The only time I ever watched a UofA basketball game in person was at the old Barnhill Fieldhouse in 1971 or 72, when my friend's father took us down there to watch them play. TTech had some player they called "The Snake", if I recall correctly. I don't even remember if we won or lost
