(97,318 posts)…in Argentina. He was hung in 1962, so we youngsters had plenty of time to learn of his crimes.
Goebbels suicided in the bunker in 1945 (along with the Frau and 6 Kinder) so he was part of the dead past, we thought, gone before we were born.
But Miller’s face is chillingly kindred to theirs. He’s an abomination in his own right.

(23,734 posts)Pictures are hung on walls but humans are "hanged until they are dead" (instantly if done right). The grammar is archaic but it is right and proper to obey it.

(23,705 posts)Overnight the regime said they had "mistakenly" taken a man from Maryland due to an administrative error, but now they can't get him back to the US because he's now in El Salvadoran custody.
People are being disappeared left and right.

(4,666 posts)who've yet emerged (unless friends/families report seeing them in a video). My point was that given the numbers that are being rounded up, it's going to end up being more than a few captives.
What's awful is that there seems no way to get them out. A report I heard said the detainees now belong to El Salvador, not the U.S., so they have no right to redress an injustice.

So they can profit off the misery.

(3,432 posts)Plus, they were taking valuable C-17 time away from day to day military ops. (This is my uneducated assumption. I have no real insight into this.)

(3,185 posts)confronted Trump on social media about sending military transports, handcuffing those aboard while in transit and threatening a trade war. (Mexico, if memory serves, didn’t allow the military planes to land.) The Biden administration had used charter planes, as had others previously. The outrageous cost of using military planes and personnel was reported. After that, this administration switched to charter. I’m sure someone is profiting, but the administration’s impulse was military for show and lack of amenities.

(190,043 posts)Unexpected Role: Flight attendants were told they would fly rock bands, sports teams and sun-seekers. Then Global Crossing Airlines started expanding into federal deportation flights.
But as the airline grew, more and more of its planes were filled with migrants in chains. Some flight attendants were livid about it.
Last year, an anonymous GlobalX employee sent an all-caps, all-staff screed that ricocheted around the startup. “WHERE IS THE COMPANY GOING?” the email asked. “YOU SIGNED A 5 YEAR CONTRACT WITH ICE? ... WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS BECOMING A PRESTIGE CHARTER AIRLINE?”
A second said his planes’ air conditioning kept breaking — an experience consistent with at least two publicly reported onboard incidents — and their lavatories kept breaking, something another flight attendant reported as well. But the planes kept flying. “They made us flush with water bottles,” he said.
