As happened during Covid, corporations will start raising prices NOW, even on current pre-tariff inventory.

In addition, when tariffs are in full bloom, prices will be raised higher than what is due to the tariff impact.

Because that's how greed works.

Corporations will try to take advantage of this bad situation, and make an already bad situation worse.

My hope is that a drop in demand on anything that is not ABSOLUTELY essential will somewhat temper this effect.

The best thing we can do right now is to limit spending as much as possible.

They will raise prices up to the point where demand drops because of the higher prices.

Very few specials and mark downs. My favorite chocolate bar up considerably and I’ve decided to give it up. Lots and lots of eggs and all with higher prices than last time I looked. Oh, the corporations are going to take care of themselves.

10. And isn't that the bottom line, greed?

That’s what it’s been about from the beginning; white men not wanting to share the wealth, wanting more than a fair share. It seems to me that greed is what it’s all about including our worship of people with more than we have.

Somehow we have made greed a worthy goal. We have made it something to be worked toward and accomplished. We have made it a bit like the holy grail.

Sellers will see prices going up everywhere and will mark the prices of other goods up too, to cash in.

Because they don’t have to. We will pay whatever and ask for more.

Eager little consumers.

9. In some sense, you have to

Because you have to anticipate costs going up, so you need to make more now.

Companies will also delay new orders, so manufacturing will go down, way down, as companies move through current inventory in hopes of riding out tariffs. Plus, many will have to figure out the new, almost certainly lower demand.

Then there are the middle men and small companies that will just fold. They're almost certainly going to fold soon.

Today’s mail came with Key Bank’s new schedule of exorbitant fees because, of course, they can get away with it now. I need to find myself a new bank or credit union. I wonder how much of a pain it will be to change my social security direct deposit.
