As I was listening to the radio on my way home from running errands....

The music was paused for the "Pledge of Allegiance." It was a rock station and that's the first time I've heard that. WTF?

I have pre-set stations, all rock and oldies and I just switch around. I never really pay any attention which station I'm on. As soon as I understood what they were doing I switched off. Of course, now I wish I knew. I will pay closer attention in case it happens again.

that signed off at midnight, and I had to cue up a record of The Star Spangled Banner to play just before the legal ID and sign off, but the Pledge?

Recordings of children reciting the pledge are played by those RW stations. That practice became popular after September 11, 2001.

But when you have the government kidnapping people and deporting them with impunity, pledging allegiance to the Grand Tyrant is SOP. In a little over two months Trump/Musk/Putin have turned the USA from the leader of the free world to a tinhorn dicatatorship that is the envy of places like Venezuela. And I know. I lived there under Hugo Chavez. But never ever did I think I'd live under such a tyrant in my own country.
