No countries were coming asking for deals

According to Josh Marshall's reporting on bluesky. Yet it was taken as gospel by almost everyone in corporate media. And it will continue to be accepted as a reason why the tariffs were paused.

Look, even if you don't buy Marshall's reporting, the administration showed no evidence of these supposed phone calls. And the language used to describe them was embarrassingly unprofessional and unhinged. To me, it was obviously a distraction from the lack of coherent policy.

When will our corporate media catch on to these first-grade level ploys? I assume never, since they haven't chosen to yet.

1. South Korea is the only named nation. I agree it is BS, like everything else from Trump and his cronies.

If Trump or someone in his adminstartion throws out a number or proof point on A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G, it needs to be couched as "alleged" until there's verifible proof right from the get go.

4. If they had asked for deals, he would have made deals. He just put the tariffs on and then removed them.

There were no deals and no one was asking for them.

7. I watched Fox to see their spin and shockingly one of their talking heads agreed. Bonds!

The bond market collapsed overnight as Japan started selling US Treasury Bonds. Prices of these bonds fell in the uncertainty and yields to the buyer went up. This hurt American banking (loans, mortgages, etc). It is a precursor to a recession. Nothing to do with Trump. And that was on Fox!

I agree that the bonds market was/is troubling but hearing that on FAUX shows how bad it must be. Haven't watched that network in at least ten years!

They have the capability, it may sting for a bit, but it will sting us even harder. Someone must have talked some sense into him and showed him the polls, how long it would take to convert our economy, etc.

And I seriously doubt anyone was willing to make any deals. If they were, he would have jumped at the chance to show his triumph and use it as a model for everyone else.
