Of course he did. The market began to climb before he announced he had caved. Scrivener7 Apr 2025 #1

Because there are probably almost as many people on social media saying that Trump's doing a great job. Your social media largely reflects what you like even if it's not a specifically gated community like DU.

Musk has lost something like 100 billion dollars in stock market value. Are there some people who have made money? Probably, but it's speculation if there's a connection between them and Trump especially given these people who might have profited aren't named.

It's super standard to wait until the markets are closed before making any statement that could significantly move the markets.

Add to that these people think anything they do is god's will or whatever, there's no way they didn't trade ahead of the news.

I’m not an economist, nor do I play one on TV, but seems like a lot of opportunity for some folks to make money in this market. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/04...

As pointed out in the replies, Trump posted "This is a great time to buy!" today, a couple hours before announcing the tariff pause.

7. Market manipulation in plain sight!

It’s so easy to see the market manipulation happening here. And the signs were all over the place. The tariff pause rumor leaking yesterday. The ominous “It’s a great day to buy” social media message from Trump this morning. The market showing meager gains today when China and EU launched their own retaliatory tariffs. The market ignorance in reacting to the bond market crashing and treasury yields spiking.

I was lucky enough to catch the signs and played the game early this morning and made a substantial return on my options.

I had a feeling since yesterday’s rumor of a 90-day pause that something was in the works. Still down quite a bit overall but I guess I have to play the game to survive these next 4 years.

Rep. Steven Horsford to Greer: "So the trade representative hasn't spoken to the POTUS about a global reordering of trade, but yet he announced it on a tweet? WTF! Who is in charge? It looks like your boss just pulled the rug out from under you. There is no strategy ... is this market manipulation?"
