Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett is the target of new ire from President Trumps most fervent supporters after she bucked his position on a key case earlier this week.
Barrett joined albeit only in part a dissenting opinion penned by liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor on Monday. The case revolves around the highly controversial claim from the Trump administration that it is entitled to deport Venezuelan migrants under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.
The debate within the high court revolved around what the correct location was for the case being made on behalf of some of the detainees.

Regardless of the finer points of the legal arguments, the mere fact of Barretts position was enough to elicit vocal dismay from Trump loyalists.

(9,072 posts)Or so they say. You don't hear conservatives talk about these checks and balances very much. Trump never thinks he is being checked, only treated very unfairly. How are we to differentiate between the two?

albeit of the liberal sort, I think I can read this woman. She is a deeply conservative Catholic. However this can, believe it or not, convert into benign decisions in some contexts. I couldnt, for example, see her having truck with anything that subverts the two term rule.
Her Irish name, Barrett, would also suggest, some Democratic DNA (I am Irish).
