Trump Broke Wall Street Today ..
I really think trumps plan was to go through with these very high tariffs on the world today, and to stuff the general fund with our money (tariff ; taxes on us). And use that as a tax refund for his rich cronies and himself etc. However China and probably Japan and whomever else started selling their 10 year treasury bonds and the administration got spooked. He may have had pressure from the billionaires (Oligarchs) themselves, and they or someone else came up with plan 'B' on Manipulating the market instead. #47 isn't smart enough to come up with any of what went on today. He just isn't.
One thing is for sure, enough doubt has settled over the U.S. stock exchange among long time investors to not trust it anymore as a legitimate enterprise because of today. I think Trump and his cronies 'broke it' so to speak. The days of making wise investments based on earnings, growth rates of companies, potential this that etc ... etc... are over. In short with the power abdicated to #47 all it takes is a Truth Social post, tweet, from him to make or break your investments from here on out. Your research is worthless.
There is not currently anywhere else for these investors to go however anywhere else in the world to invest and get the returns historically as they have like Wall Street.
Not yet anyway. But I believe a new type of exchange led by any number of Nations excluding the U.S. will emerge in the long run somewhere in the world. I have no timeline and won't guess what Nations or block of nations might prevail in such an endeavor. But I believe it's coming.
The USA is on an island. We've lost all respect and trust in the world because of #47. RIP Wall Street.
Note: this is just an opinion piece, a hunch, a theory, part of a dystopian thought ha ... call it what you will. The time's they are a changing. Peace.

doublethink
(7,181 posts)it's not easy to make such a short succinct thought typed out without getting too wordy. This is one of those instances with all that has been going on. Had to just put this out there tonight and let whomever take from it whatever they will, or won't ha. Have a great evening.

(54,814 posts)The fact that someone could in some way do something is not evidence that they actually did.
There is circumstantial evidence that the pause decision was made Wednesday. There is no evidence of a plot that spanned some larger number of days or more people than the three who were in the Oval Office Wednesday.
You have sharp knives in your kitchen. Someone in your county in past months died from stab wounds and the murder is unsolved. Just because you had a weapon and were physically capable of lifting it and inserting it into flesh doesn't mean you were the murderer. There has to be actual evidence, not just a goto of "Oh, you could have done it, you must have done it."
Some people point to the timing, that there was a bump about 15 minutes before the big jump. (I'm not going to look up the exact number of minutes). The bump was as a result of the Treasury auction of 10 year notes that was much more robust than had been expected.
"Manipulation" is an easy goto, but real evidence is required.
tRump is guilty of enough crimes for which there IS evidence that we don't need to fabricate crimes for him.
