first newsom, then whitmer... bad things happen when you consort with the enemy

and when trump was praising her he should have been rubbing his hands together in an evil gesture, and saying: "she fell right into my evil trap" because she did.
she never should have gone there.
now is hardly the time to play with bipartisanship

but I did want to say goodbye first to Gretchen Whitmer, who Gavin Newsomed herself yesterday. First, the governor of Michigan came out in favor of tariffs, some tariffs anyway, on the day Trump would punt some tariffs. Trump signed more executive orders in the Oval yesterday for higher flow shower heads, for prosecuting Conservative election monitor Chris Krebs about shipbuilding. There's some anti Miles Tailor stuff. I don't know, more tariffs maybe who knows and who's in the corner not smart enough to get out of the goddamned Oval office while all this is going on? Gretchen goddamned Whitmer. "Honored to have Gretchen Whittmer from Michigan, the great state of Michigan. And she's been she's really done, an excellent job, very good person." That was Trump. Don't know what route you think you you are on politically, Governor, but whenever you get to your destination, say hi to Gavin Newsom when you get there, because he's done and you're done, because neither of you has learned the Howard Dean Rudy Giuliani rule: Do not start already running for president, especially if it involves compromising with the other side, whom everybody hates. Do not start already running for president four years from now until it's only like eighteen months from now. And also governor, if you buy one Trump Executive idiot order, you get the rest for free. And never ever get the endorsement of the worst leader in the history of the free world.

Bye now, Gretchen.

A 'disaster': Gretchen Whitmer's talk on tariffs and meeting with Trump anger fellow Democrats
The Michigan governor tried to play nice with Trump. Instead, there’s a sense in the party that she got played when the president used her as a bipartisan Oval Office prop.

Then, later Wednesday, Whitmer joined Trump in the Oval Office. She was scheduled to meet privately with him and discuss Michigan issues. That wasn’t how it ultimately played out.

Instead, she stood by as he signed several executive orders, including two calling for Justice Department probes of officials who served in his first administration and called him out for falsely claiming the 2020 election was stolen. He made the false claims about the election’s being “rigged” again Wednesday.

Whitmer was invited into the Oval Office alongside Michigan state House Speaker Matt Hall, a Republican, as Trump held court with reporters and signed the executive orders. Photos showed Whitmer standing uncomfortably against a door as the cameras rolled.

“She’s really done an excellent job,” Trump said of Whitmer during the impromptu media availability. “Very good person.”

2. I didn't mind when Newsom debated Bannon on his podcast. But Whitmer made a huge mistake.

And why does Whitmer think these inane Trump tariffs will be good for Michigan? Certainly no respected economists think so. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-tariffs-entice-companies-expand-us-manufacturing-economic/story?id=120635951

I don’t get it.

What I do get is that she has done some damage to her presidential aspirations. Having to explain a mistake is always a negative for a politician.

She said herself she wasn’t the leader of the opposition. Here, I was proven right. She is NOT presidential material. Weak ass sauce.

SMH. I just don't get it! Who is Trump anyway if not Satan in the flesh that he of little and low character could sway so many people to believe that he is good for any country, that he cares about you, that he is not out to get you. WT absolute F is taking over people with previously good intentions, good hearts, compassionate spirits, reasonable intelligence?? What is happening before our very eyes that we all seem powerless to stop?

Perhaps, JFK, MLK, RFK, and Medgar have some answers?

Which politically is very hard to do. I think she feels like she needs to do all she to protect Michigan from his craziness. If it means taking one for the team, then so be it.

And if we are going to be honest, Whitmer has been a pretty good governor. But I don't see her catching fire nationally. She's a little too Michigan for that. As a non-native Michigander (over 20 years), Michigan people aren't the friendliest people in the world. Not rude. Typically, they aren't charismatic or outwardly friendly. It comes from being a little isolated on the peninsula and braving through long, tough winters.

But it is NEVER the other way around. And where has all this bipartisanship gotten us? Nowhere.

Now, I would agree with Whitmer IF the GOP was a reasonable political party. But they definitely are not anymore. Yet some Democrats are still behaving as if they were. I don't get it. This never works to attract voters either.

Tim Walz
Cory Booker
Pete Buttigieg
Jasmine Crockett
Bernie Sanders
AOC
Elizabeth Warren

I don't know yet who I will be putting my support behind in 2028, but there are already several candidates who I really thought would be on that short list who have seen themselves out the door.
