His finest such contribution? The movie "In Which We Serve," one of the genuinely great naval war epics of all time. Highest recommendation.

In a clip from BBC "SAS -Rogue Warriors"
I believe this depicts the SAS leader Paddy Mayne training French resistance.
He told them to build a 30 foot high scaffold in the desert, and to their surprise started shooting a .303 British at them, coming very close, to put them under stress.
The French Professor in the clip was based on a real person.
