How the hell are they both the same age?

(25,504 posts)Also, the photo could be airbrushed. It looks so physically painful to me. I'd rather look my age or even older.
I appreciate Cher for who she is and now how she looks.
I hate trump for who he is and not how he looks.

Who knows what she'd look like if not for on-going renovation?
Then there's the simple fact that people age differently. Overweight = more possibility for sagging. Healthier diet and such can help postpone some aging. Sun or UV exposure is horrible for skin.
Plus there's the photograph-selection effect. You can pick a good picture with good lighting, a smile, etc., or a bad picture. We've griped about when (D) are presented with their worst possible pictures because it's just unethical but seem oblivious to the same principle when it suits us. I don't care which way a publication leans, I prefer representative, neutral, depictions. (Unless it's specifically of somebody screaming, tripping, barfing, whatever--and *that* is the story. Not "So-and-so gave a speech at the Rotary Club" and it shows the person dozing off or bedraggled or tripping up the stairs, unless that's what s/he actually looked like while giving the speech.)

I remember watching a video of Cher singing on an Iowa Class Battleship and thinking how she looked and then thought to myself which one has more work done on it, her or the ship. I do not understand the humans need for trying to defy time. We age, our appearance changes, you shouldn't judge yourself or allow yourself to be judged on how you look. My two cents

(37,311 posts)They call it (okay, "we" call it) looking our best, but it's not really our best--it's the surgeons' best.
I figure they should also wear little patches so we, too, can judge the expense and maybe patronize their vendors: "Cheeks by Giovanni", "hairline by Rosenberg", "chin and jawline by Ghosh", "hair color by Mystique of Beverly Hills", "breasts by Robert of Hollywood, repaired by Olaweyo of Simi Valley"
.
Imagine the TikTok sub-economy that would form over critiquing the celebs' choices of body redesigners, their relative merits, costs, etc., with all the teenage girls (and boys) clamoring for a Xmas trip to visit one of their celeb's favorite body upgraders.
Some people would have some many little patches on them, they would look like a Formula 1 car.

(9,324 posts)After all her face and physical appearance is who she is.
Most show business people, their face is their fortune.

(11,531 posts)that as one ages, their inner self begins to show on the outside. Chump is miserable, inside and out; Cher is a delight.
