"YOU ARE A CHARLATAN" - Tina Peters sentencing.

"no respect for checks and balances"

This is what I dearly hope to see the rest of Trump's cabal get when just desserts are served.

This is why Trump is trying so hard to get her cut lose.

No one in their right mind wants to do nine years for the felon.

This Judge is incredible.

If Supreme Court justices had the integrity this guy has in his pinky finger, this country would be in much better shape.

It is easy for the judge to go after her. It is easy for everyone to go after her.

Destroying the machine is what needs to be done. Not slowly taking a piece here and there while it continues to damage our citizens.

That is going to create more suffering that does not have to happen, except for those who do not want things to change too much because of their own involvement with the underlying reasons for all of this, as well as their socioeconomic position which will allow them to hang on in this situation longer than most of us can.

Do the 'elite' in this country really expect the rest of us to just sit and suffer while they wait till this affects their own bottom line?

Why should the poor do that?

However -

Billionaire oligarchs are for all practical purposes untouchable.

Not so their lackeys.

Legally going after the foot soldiers is effective.

It discourages others from committing illegal acts for their masters, knowing they will face consequences that can't be cancelled by the masters, in this case a state conviction that Trump can't pardon legally.

This is why he is putting on a show of trying to release Peters, even though he can do nothing

Stop supporting the machine. Stop giving it the recourses it has to have to keep on running.

NO machine will work without some sort of power to make it run. Remove that power and the machine is useless.

Stop giving the machine what it needs to run. Stop with the money. Stop with the manpower. Just stop supporting them in any way.

(One of my favorite things to read around here is how people with large tracts of land just cannot comprehend that they need to start growing their own food so that they can stop supporting those corporations that run stores that constantly gouge people because they have convinced us that we cannot sustain ourselves. We most certainly can. We may have been programmed to not believe this, but all we have to do is start doing it.)

We don't have to play their games. We have just been too programmed to believe otherwise.

Time to break the chain, so to speak.

didn't hold back his contempt for her and her lies and defiance.

My only regret is that she didn't receive more prison time but I'll take it and Flim Flam Man/Ed Martin can get fucked for trying to coerce CO. with threats if she's not released or transferred to Fed. custody, which would be a get out of jail free card.

Fri Dec 26, 2025, 11:42 AM
Friday

Is because he wants his agents to believe he can pardon them when they try to tamper with future election results.

It's obviously not because he gives a flying fuck about her personally.

Which is why it's so important to keep her in prison.

It sends a message to these traitors.

A Republican judge?

That's even more incredible, considering he blasted her and compared her to the less fortunate defendants who appeared before him, for whom he expressed genuine compassion.

Those people need to see that they can end up in a state prison if they break any laws.

So far, we have seen very little on this. There is a big struggle in Pennsylvania where Republicans are trying to pass legislation making ICE agents untouchable. But Dems are trying to pass legislation prohibiting masks and requiring identification.

However, in my opinion, trying to subvert an election is tantamount to overthrowing the government and should be prosecuted and punished the same. I should think life in prison.

IIRC, they were trying to serve a warrant and she was in a bar. and resisted for real. I don't do newspapers, but Colorado Public Radio's email newsletter had a photo or two.

Before I moved in Colorado Springs, I lived for about a decade and a half in Alamosa Bounty in Central southern Colorado. Our county Clerk for most of that time was a Republican who took her oath seriously and was really nice. Sigh. Those were the days.

in that Colorado has one of the best prison systems in the nation. She will not be served food with maggots in it, as she might be in parts of the South. She won't like the uniforms, but she'll get them laundered regularly. If there's anyone who wants to visit her (which considering her attitude seems unlikely, but certainly possible), that visitor or visitors will have to fill out a form and have their background checked, but the process will be fair and likely fast, and if approved and they come to visit, they will be treated with grace.

However, they will not put up with being disrespected. Hopefully, that will impact her defiant attitude. I suspect that, if it doesn't, nothing will.

Some years ago, after the head of our DOC had been shot by a former inmate, his replacement (whom a lot of people had been worried about since the murdered guy had been so good) spent 24 hours in solitary himself so he would know what it was like - and use it appropriately. So I don't doubt one would have to work to get into it here.
