The RNC hasn’t chosen an exact time or place for this midterm convention, the first ever for Republicans and the first for either party since Democrats held two of them in the 1970s. It’s assumed it will take place during the summer, giving them time to develop and then deploy a midterm message. And since the driving force behind this event and its certain dominant personage is Donald Trump, the odds are extremely high the GOP will do everything possible to insinuate its partisan clambake into the allegedly nonpartisan 250th-anniversary events. So in Washington or in swing-state Pennsylvania sometime very near July 4 is a good bet.
