Q: Why did the ICE agent(s) ask that?

A: Because the gun had been removed BEFORE they executed Alex!

That's why the gun wasn't in his hand nor near/on Alex's dead body.

The gun OBVIOUSLY should've been in Alex's hand or right next to his lifeless body if he was brandishing it. 🤯😑
