Last night, at one point in Donald Trump's rather long winded SOTU address, during which many concerns (regarding affordability, for one), were either ignored or deceptively glossed over with inaccuracies, exaggerations, and pure fabrications (if not fantasy) he challenged the entire assembly to stand up, if they believed the following statement:

“The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens...."

At which those on the Republican side of the aisle stood and raucously applauded.  It made for quite the spectacle. Problem being, if Trump and his MAGA cohorts really believed this, then why do they support and defend the things they've actually said and done?

I have a sneaking suspicion they don't BELIEVE it.
