doing something, but running for statewide office doesn't seem realistic at this moment in time. We have seen what happens when we run smart, capable women back in 2016 and 2024. It's too hard to overcome sexism and racism. And that was when we just had to try to win swing states.

In order to win here, Crockett wouldn't just have to win swing states like Michigan. She'd have to win a red state. She would have to get rednecks and conservatives to vote for her. That is what some people are forgetting when they are cheering for her to win. They are forgetting that this is TEXAS we are talking about, and that the likelihood of Texas electing a Black woman if the country would not elect a Black woman is slim to none.

4. As an atheist myself, it doesn't bother me if they are coming from a good place. The majority of the world is religious.

Unlike some atheists, I accent that I'm in the minority, in the US and the entire world. Trying to leave Christians out of the conversation cuts out most of the country.

And the way Talarico is doing it is good political psychology.

5. Understandable. Of course he does it not do out of pomp or superiority, but to largely criticize those

in his religion that abuse it. He only ever speaks about his religion in the context of the univeral rule of loving your neighbor (or Golden rule), and to emphasize the need for separation of church and state that is increasingly being threatened. Talarico believes that religion is best preserved and respected when it isnt being shoved down people's throats: A huge problem happening in Texas.

7. I think he's doing it in a positive way

And I also think we need to keep in mind that all politics are local.

Would that message play well if he were saying the same things running for mayor of NYC? Probably not. But he is running in Texas, a state that is quite moderate and conservative. Texas is a Hispanic majority state, and many Hispanics are moderate and religious and conservative. More than 80% of Texas is white and Hispanic. I feel that his messaging is both genuine, and is also messaging that plays very well to the voter base here. In order to win in Texas, you cannot just get far-left democratic votes. You absolutely must get crossover votes from moderates.

Jasmine is great and I love having her voice in the House, but it's also important to keep in mind that she has only ever won in her safe blue district. She has never won a competitive race. James Talarico flipped his formerly red district in order to win his seat, which is why many feel he has a real shot at that senate seat if he's the one that wins the primary.

How many times does he need to have her on his show? Ten? Twenty? Fifty?
