"I want to offer condolences to your boss [Mehdi]. I know he's all broke up about the Ayatollah."
Senator John Fettermanâs response to @premthakker.bsky.social when asked about the illegal US strike on an Iranian Naval ship in international waters:
— Zeteo (@zeteo.com) 2026-03-04T23:35:35.220Z
âI want to offer condolences to your boss [Mehdi]. I know heâs all broke up about the Ayatollah.â

(25,823 posts)Mehdi Raza Hasan[a] (born 10 July 1979) is a British-American broadcaster, journalist, and founder of the media company Zeteo. He presented The Mehdi Hasan Show on Peacock from October 2020 and on MSNBC from February 2021 until the show's cancellation in November 2023.

Well, at least he didn't tell the guy to smile more

(42,546 posts)... MSNBC show. I watched regularly, and really liked his ability to get the facts and get to the point. I guess even MSNBC didn't have enough viewers who were willing to accept an openly Muslim host, which is a real shame. He often brought on guests from whom we would never have heard otherwise, because mainstream media would have considered them representatives of "those other people". Even on DU, he often got unfairly harsh criticism.
Fetterman's slur against him is sadly typical of the far right in this country, who paint all Muslims with the same broad brush even though many of them are refugees from, or targets of, the very same hostile Muslim theocratic "leadership" the RWNJs accuse them of serving, and totally out of place in the Democratic Party.

(17,595 posts)MSNOW's "The Weekend".
But Mehdi Hassan is on a different level, very smart, well-informed and in your face. Medhi would destroy Fetterman in a face to face interview or debate. Brits are much more facile with words and thinking on their feet because of their tradition of debate than Americans are or ever will be.
It would help Fetterman if he could succinctly articulate why he is a zealot on supporting Israel, but he can't. He can only put out trollish social media posts.

(13,894 posts)He is an embarrassment, but the Trumpublican party is up to their ears in immoral, idiotic, spineless embarrassments hellbent on defending whatever indefensible action the felon takes.
He has made it clear that he belongs in their ranks.
Tragically, states don't have recall power over U.S. Senators or Reps, so short of resignation, PA is stuck with him 'til 2028. However, I would love to see Pennsylvania Dems mobilized to at least get their municipal governments to pass resolutions of condemnation of his failures to defend the constitution and the rights of the people of their state.
It would certainly make some news if such a resolution were passed in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Allentown, or Erie (or perhaps even all of them). And perhaps lobby county commissioners to do the same in Delaware, Chester, Montgomery, or Bucks,.

(2,121 posts)There were concerns about him and whispers in PA. But, he projected this lovable, awkward, Everyman persona. Dems rallied around him.
He displayed oppositional behavior and believe what hes showing you.
👉🏽This is not bashing Dems. I continue to support and vote for progressive Dems. We need a Blue Wave of fighters, patriots and strong people.
If HoodieMan is suffering from a medical ailment that negatively impacts his cognition, his staff and family should do an intervention. He needs to resign and get healthy. Hope that happens .
