(1,604 posts)Im all for it I think. Ive been denied pre authorization for an important medication that Ive taken for years twice. Gone through appeals. Only for insurance to approve it but it took 6 weeks. Both times they approved it after I was admitted in the hospital for complications of being off the medication. Each appeal required teams of doctor data, all sent via fax.
Insurance companies are shit. There in house approval doctors are doctors until its appealed multiple times. Even then they rule on finances. Every step has 3 weeks.
In 2025 there was something that came out to voluntarily reduce reasons for pre authorization on 75% of medications requiring it today. I say hand it over to a computer and make the process 48 hours versus today, which is 3 weeks after receiving the paperwork.
