(24,339 posts)Despite the volatility over the past 15 years, the Dow has gone from 13,000 in 2007 to over 50,000 now.
A balanced, diversified portfolio would have weathered all the storms during that time period.

(24,339 posts)They are selling half a billion shares in the IPO, so chances are most index funds will have at least a sliver of SpaceX in them.

(14,323 posts)Even at that, I'm sure they would be going for obscenely over-inflated valuations
Operating losses -- particularly of xAI -- swamp starlink operating income.
Just another way to pump up the AI bubble to bursting by burying xAI under the SpaceX "brand."

(14,323 posts)It is also my understanding that the primary reason he's seeking to raise capital is to pay creditors and investors. Even if it hits the target, a lion's share is earmarked, leaving very little to invest in growth.
So, instead of putting money into a company on the assumption that money will be used to build up the company, he's raising money to payoff what has already been spent to get to the losing place they are.
Or perhaps my understanding is overly simplistic. All I know is that to me it sure looks like an "the emperor has no clothes" situation.
